Brazil is the largest country crossed by the Tropic of Capricorn.
The Tropic of Capricorn is a line of latitude located at about 23.5 degrees south. It crosses Brazil’s southern and central regions, including parts of São Paulo, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as several other Brazilian states.
Other large countries crossed by the line include Australia and Argentina, but Brazil has the greatest total area. The tropic marks the southernmost latitude at which the Sun can appear directly overhead at noon, a phenomenon associated with the December solstice. Earth’s axial tilt causes the tropics to shift slightly over long periods, although the line remains a standard geographic reference.
