Which country is the largest bordering the Persian Gulf?

The story behind the answer

Saudi Arabia is the largest country bordering the Persian Gulf.

Saudi Arabia covers about 2.15 million square kilometres, far exceeding the areas of the other Gulf littoral states. Its eastern coast faces the Persian Gulf, with important ports and petroleum facilities around Dammam, Jubail, and Ras Tanura.

Iran has a much longer Persian Gulf coastline, but Saudi Arabia is the larger country by total area. This distinction often causes confusion because coastline length and country size are different measurements.

The Persian Gulf is connected to the Gulf of Oman through the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia also borders the Red Sea to the west, giving it coastlines on two major Middle Eastern waterways.
