Malaysia is home to the Petronas Towers, the matching skyscrapers linked by a skybridge in Kuala Lumpur.
The towers were completed in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur’s City Centre. Each tower rises 451.9 metres and has 88 above-ground floors, with a stainless-steel-and-glass exterior influenced by Islamic geometric forms.
The skybridge connects the towers between the 41st and 42nd floors. It is not permanently fixed rigidly to both buildings; its design allows movement caused by wind and structural changes. Visitors can access the bridge and a higher observation area through timed admissions.
The Petronas Towers held the title of world’s tallest buildings from 1998 until 2004, when Taipei 101 surpassed them. They remain the world’s tallest twin towers, a distinction separate from the record for the tallest single skyscraper.
