Which country hosted the 2007 Rugby World Cup?
Answer
France
Answer
France
France hosted the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
The tournament was held from 7 September to 20 October 2007, with France serving as the principal host. Matches were also played in Cardiff, Wales, and Edinburgh, Scotland, so the event is sometimes described as a multi-country tournament in the wider European region.
Twenty nations competed in the sixth men’s Rugby World Cup. The opening match took place at the Stade de France, where Argentina defeated France. South Africa ultimately won the tournament, beating England 15–6 in the final at the Stade de France.
France’s hosting role does not mean France won the competition: South Africa lifted the Webb Ellis Cup. The country had previously hosted the 1991 tournament jointly with England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, and later hosted the 2023 Rugby World Cup as the sole principal host.
