The song charted strongly in several international markets when Folklore arrived. Its other early top-20 peaks included number 12 in Singapore, number 13 in Australia, and number 16 in Canada. These results show that the album’s surprise release generated substantial attention outside the United States.
Malaysia’s number-11 result refers to the country’s singles chart at the time of the initial release period. It is not the later Billboard Malaysia peak listed for the song’s August resurgence, which was number 14. The two figures belong to different chart periods and should not be merged.
The annual trend added another layer to the song’s international performance. Later August revivals brought “august” onto additional charts, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
