Malaysia contains the Sarawak Chamber, a vast underground chamber in Gunung Mulu National Park on the island of Borneo.
The chamber lies inside Gua Nasib Bagus, also called Good Luck Cave, in the Malaysian state of Sarawak. It is part of the extensive Mulu cave system, which formed in the region’s thick limestone and has been explored by international caving expeditions.
The Sarawak Chamber is commonly described as the world’s largest known cave chamber by area. Published measurements give it a floor area of roughly 154,000 square metres, although cave dimensions can be difficult to measure precisely and may be refined as exploration continues.
The chamber is not the same as the world’s longest cave or deepest cave. Those records involve different measurements. Gunung Mulu is also famous for other enormous passages, including Deer Cave, one of the largest cave passages known.
