Which country contains the ancient pyramids of Giza?

The story behind the answer

Egypt contains the ancient pyramids of Giza.

The Giza pyramid complex stands on the west bank of the Nile near Cairo. Its three principal pyramids were built during Egypt’s Fourth Dynasty as monumental tombs for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

The Great Pyramid was built for Khufu and is the largest of the three. It was the tallest human-made structure in the world for thousands of years and is the only surviving member of the traditional Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The complex also includes the Great Sphinx, causeways, temples, and cemeteries. The pyramids were constructed from enormous quantities of stone by organized laborers, not by the popular image of chained slaves. Their alignment and engineering continue to attract archaeological and mathematical study.
