Which console hosted the original Pokémon games, Red and Green?
Answer
Game Boy
Answer
Game Boy
The original Pokémon games, Red and Green, were released for the Game Boy.
Nintendo launched the Game Boy versions in Japan in 1996, making Pokémon a handheld role-playing game from the beginning. Players explored the world, caught Pokémon, trained them, and battled other Trainers.
The games were designed around the Game Boy's link-cable features. Connecting two systems allowed players to trade Pokémon and battle, and trading was necessary to obtain every species because some Pokémon were exclusive to one version.
Pokémon later appeared on the Game Boy Color through releases such as Pokémon Gold and Silver and Pokémon Crystal. The original Japanese Red and Green games, however, belong specifically to the Game Boy era.
