Which conference's all-time scoring record did 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Chamique Holdsclaw hold at Tennessee?

The story behind the answer

Chamique Holdsclaw held the SEC’s all-time scoring record while playing college basketball at Tennessee before her 2026 Hall of Fame induction.

Holdsclaw played for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers from 1995 through 1999 and became one of the most decorated players in college basketball. She was a four-time first-team All-SEC selection and won the SEC Player of the Year award twice.

Her scoring record belonged to the Southeastern Conference, commonly known as the SEC. The conference includes Tennessee and several other major universities in the southern United States. Holdsclaw’s production helped Tennessee remain a national power during the late 1990s.

She also led Tennessee to three NCAA championships from 1996 through 1998 and won the Naismith College Player of the Year award twice. Her college career made her the first overall pick in the 1999 WNBA draft and established the foundation for her later honors in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
