Jesper Kyd composed the original score for the first Assassin’s Creed game.
Kyd’s music helped define the series’ early sound, combining orchestral writing, electronic textures, and atmospheric vocal elements. His score supports the game’s contrast between medieval historical scenes and the modern-day sections involving Desmond Miles and the Animus.
The Assassin’s Creed music credits changed across later releases. Lorne Balfe composed music for Assassin’s Creed III and contributed to other entries, while Sarah Schachner worked on Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Austin Wintory composed the score for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, making all three plausible alternatives associated with the franchise but not the first game’s score.
Kyd had already written music for games including Hitman before Assassin’s Creed. His work on the first title became especially recognizable through the recurring “Ezio’s Family” and broader series musical tradition, although that specific theme is associated with later games.
