Apple was the first company whose stock-market value exceeded $2 trillion, reaching that milestone in August 2020. The valuation followed a rapid rise in its share price during a period of strong investor demand for technology companies.
Apple had already become the first publicly traded company valued at $1 trillion in 2018. Its second trillion came roughly two years later, supported by the iPhone business, growing services revenue, and the company’s large installed base of customers.
A market-cap milestone measures the value assigned by the stock market, not the company’s physical assets or cash balance. Saudi Aramco reached a $2 trillion valuation briefly after its 2019 listing, but Apple’s August 2020 achievement is generally identified as the first sustained public-company milestone at that level.
