Nvidia’s founder Jensen Huang became its chief executive in 1993.
Huang co-founded Nvidia in 1993 with Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem and has served as its president and chief executive since the company’s beginning. Nvidia initially focused on graphics-processing technology for personal computers and video games.
The company introduced the GeForce 256 in 1999 and promoted it as the world’s first graphics processing unit, or GPU. Nvidia later developed chips and software used for scientific computing, data centers, and artificial-intelligence applications.
Huang is recognizable for his black leather-jacket style and public presentations, but the corporate fact is more important: he has led Nvidia continuously from its founding. Nvidia is not the same company as Intel or AMD, although all three have competed in parts of the semiconductor industry.
