Apple was the first company to reach a $3 trillion market capitalization at any point during trading.
Apple first touched the $3 trillion level during trading on January 3, 2022. The share price briefly reached the level before moving back, making the intraday achievement different from Apple’s close above $3 trillion later in the same session.
The milestone followed Apple’s earlier records at $1 trillion in 2018 and $2 trillion in 2020. Its market value was supported by the global scale of the iPhone business, a large customer base, and expanding services such as the App Store and iCloud.
Intraday and closing milestones are often mixed up in financial headlines. “Reached” can mean a price briefly crossed the threshold, while “closed above” means the market value remained above it at the end of the trading day.
