Apple was the first company to exceed US$1 trillion in market capitalization during the 2010s.
Apple passed the threshold in August 2018, after its share price climbed following a strong earnings report and continued investor enthusiasm. The result made the company the first publicly traded business to reach the figure widely reported as a trillion-dollar valuation.
The milestone followed Apple’s transformation from a personal-computer maker into a broad technology company. The iPhone became its central product, while services, accessories, tablets, and computers added other revenue streams.
The 2010s were a period of rapid growth in the market values of major technology companies. Amazon reached US$1 trillion later in 2018, and Microsoft and Alphabet joined the group in subsequent years.
