Saudi Aramco was the first company to exceed a $2 trillion market capitalization during a stock-market trading session.
The Saudi oil giant crossed the $2 trillion level on its second day of trading in December 2019. The initial share-price rise followed an IPO that had already valued the company at roughly $1.9 trillion, placing it among the largest corporations ever measured by market capitalization.
The record is often confused with Apple’s later technology-sector milestones. Apple became the first company to reach $2 trillion in August 2020, but Saudi Aramco had already passed that valuation during its 2019 listing period.
Because the record depended on a trading price, it was not permanent. Saudi Aramco’s market value changed as its share price, oil-market outlook, and investor expectations changed.
