JPMorgan Chase ranked first on Forbes’ 2024 Global 2000 list.

Forbes’ Global 2000 ranks the world’s largest public companies using a composite score based on sales, profits, assets and market value. JPMorgan Chase’s leading position reflected its enormous balance sheet, substantial earnings, broad customer base and high stock-market valuation.

The list is different from a billionaire ranking. It measures publicly traded corporations rather than individual fortunes, and its methodology combines several financial indicators instead of ordering companies by one measure such as revenue alone. A company can therefore rank highly because of its assets or market value even if another company has greater sales.

JPMorgan Chase has appeared near the top of the Global 2000 repeatedly. Common alternatives such as Saudi Aramco, ICBC and Bank of America have also occupied leading positions in different editions, which is why the year matters when identifying the winner.
