Qualcomm produces the Snapdragon family of mobile processors.
Snapdragon is a brand of system-on-chip products used in smartphones, tablets, automobiles, and other connected devices. These chips can combine a central processing unit, graphics processing, wireless connectivity, image processing, and other functions in one package. Qualcomm also earns significant revenue from licensing cellular technology patents.
Qualcomm was founded in 1985 in San Diego, California. Its technology is closely associated with mobile communications standards, including CDMA and later generations of cellular networks. Snapdragon chips are sometimes mistaken for products made by MediaTek or Samsung, which also design mobile processors. Qualcomm’s market value reflects both its semiconductor business and its intellectual-property licensing operations.
