Which company produces the iconic Ghostface mask used in the Scream films?

The story behind the answer

Fun World produces the iconic Ghostface mask used in the Scream films.

Fun World originally developed the mask as a Halloween novelty product before it appeared on screen. The design was created for the company's Fantastic Faces line in 1991–1992, where the mask was known as “The Peanut-Eyed Ghost.” Its design was approved by Fun World vice-president Allan Geller.

The mask was discovered during location scouting for Scream by producer Marianne Maddalena, who brought it to director Wes Craven. After negotiations between Fun World and Dimension Films, the original commercial design was used in the movie rather than a replacement created by KNB Effects.

NECA, Spirit Halloween, and Rubie's have all sold Ghostface-related merchandise or costumes, which can cause confusion about the manufacturer. However, the Ghostface design and name belong to Fun World, the company responsible for the original mask. The costume became especially effective in Scream because it was presented as an ordinary, widely available disguise that could conceal the killer's identity.
