Which company owns the luxury electric-car brand Mercedes-Benz?

The story behind the answer

Mercedes-Benz Group owns the luxury electric-car brand Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes-Benz Group is the German automotive company formerly known as Daimler AG. It changed its name to Mercedes-Benz Group AG in February 2022, reflecting the central importance of the Mercedes-Benz passenger-car and van businesses after Daimler Truck became a separate company.

The group sells Mercedes-Benz cars, vans, and related mobility services. Its electric vehicles include models in the EQ family, such as the EQS and EQE. Mercedes-Benz has roots reaching back to the pioneering automobile work of Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler in the late nineteenth century.

The answer is not Daimler, although that name appears throughout the company's history. Daimler AG was the parent company's name until 2022, while Mercedes-Benz Group is its current corporate name and Mercedes-Benz is the main vehicle brand.
