LVMH owns the Louis Vuitton brand and became Europe’s first company valued above $500 billion.
LVMH reached the $500 billion market-cap milestone in April 2023, helped by strong demand for luxury goods and investor confidence in its portfolio of brands. The group is formally named LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and is led by Bernard Arnault.
LVMH controls businesses across fashion and leather goods, perfumes and cosmetics, wines and spirits, watches and jewelry, selective retailing, and other activities. Louis Vuitton is one of its best-known brands, but the group also includes Dior, Fendi, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Sephora, and Moët & Chandon.
LVMH is often confused with Louis Vuitton itself. Louis Vuitton is a maison within the group, while LVMH is the publicly traded parent company whose shares determine the quoted market capitalization.
