LVMH owns Louis Vuitton and Dior and is the world’s largest luxury-goods group.
LVMH is the abbreviation for Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. The group was created in 1987 through the merger of Moët et Chandon and Hennessy with Louis Vuitton. Bernard Arnault became its chairman and chief executive and built it into a large portfolio of luxury brands.
The group’s businesses span fashion and leather goods, wines and spirits, perfumes and cosmetics, watches and jewelry, and selective retailing. Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior are among its best-known maisons, but LVMH owns many other brands as well.
LVMH is listed on Euronext Paris. Its market capitalization reflects the combined expectations surrounding its portfolio, while the value of any individual brand is not separately quoted on the stock exchange.
