Apple owns the iPhone brand and became the first company valued at $3 trillion.
Apple briefly reached a $3 trillion market capitalization during intraday trading on June 30, 2023. It became the first publicly traded company to hit that level, although the exact value fluctuated with the share price and the number of shares outstanding.
The iPhone is Apple’s flagship smartphone line. Apple introduced the original iPhone on January 9, 2007, and released it in the United States on June 29, 2007. Its combination of a touchscreen interface, mobile software, internet access, and media features changed the competitive landscape of the phone industry.
Apple’s valuation is not the same as the retail value of all iPhones sold. Market capitalization measures the value of the company’s publicly traded equity. Apple also earns substantial revenue from Mac computers, iPad tablets, wearables, digital services, accessories, and licensing arrangements.
