Which company owns Google and is legally named Alphabet Inc.?
Answer
Alphabet
Answer
Alphabet
Alphabet Inc. is the parent company that owns Google.
Google became a subsidiary of Alphabet when the corporate reorganization took effect in October 2015. The restructuring separated Google’s core internet businesses from several other projects and made Alphabet the publicly traded parent company. Google remains Alphabet’s largest and best-known subsidiary.
Alphabet’s main businesses include Google Search, YouTube, Android, and Google Cloud. It also has so-called Other Bets, which have included areas such as life sciences and autonomous vehicles. The company’s stock-market value is therefore generally reported under Alphabet’s share classes, even though many people still informally refer to the business as Google. Alphabet was created by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, with Sundar Pichai becoming chief executive of Alphabet in 2019.
