Huawei operates HarmonyOS and is headquartered in Shenzhen, China.
Huawei was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei. It began as a telecommunications-equipment company and later became a major supplier of networking infrastructure, smartphones, enterprise technology, and consumer electronics.
After U.S. restrictions disrupted Huawei’s access to Google Mobile Services and some advanced components, the company developed and expanded HarmonyOS. The operating system is used across parts of Huawei’s device ecosystem and is distinct from Google’s Android services.
Huawei is not currently a conventional publicly listed company like Apple or Microsoft. It is an employee-owned private company, so references to its “market value” should not be treated as a directly quoted stock-market capitalization. That distinction is important when comparing the world’s richest listed companies.
