Which company launched Windows 95 on August 24, 1995?

The story behind the answer

Microsoft launched Windows 95 on August 24, 1995.

Windows 95 was a major consumer operating system release and introduced the Start menu, taskbar, and desktop conventions that became familiar to generations of computer users. It also supported longer filenames and improved plug-and-play hardware detection compared with earlier versions of Windows.

The launch was accompanied by an extensive marketing campaign, including the use of the Rolling Stones song “Start Me Up.” Microsoft sold Windows 95 both as an upgrade for existing computers and as software bundled with new personal computers.

Windows 95 is sometimes confused with Windows NT 4.0, released in the same year. Windows 95 targeted home users, while Windows NT 4.0 was designed primarily for business and professional environments.
