ASML is the world’s leading supplier of extreme ultraviolet lithography machines for advanced chipmaking.
ASML develops and manufactures lithography systems that semiconductor factories use to print extremely small circuit patterns onto silicon wafers. Its extreme ultraviolet, or EUV, machines use 13.5-nanometer-wavelength light to support production of advanced logic and memory chips.
EUV systems are exceptionally complex and contain components supplied by many specialist companies. ASML has been the only commercial supplier of EUV lithography equipment, giving it a uniquely important position in the semiconductor industry.
ASML does not fabricate the processors found in phones or data centers. Companies such as TSMC, Samsung, and Intel operate chip factories and use lithography tools. ASML’s strong position in a critical equipment niche has made it one of Europe’s most valuable technology companies.
