Which company is the world's largest luxury goods group by revenue?

The story behind the answer

LVMH is the world’s largest luxury-goods group by revenue. The French conglomerate combines dozens of prestigious houses across fashion, jewelry, wines and spirits, perfumes, cosmetics, and selective retail.

The name stands for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. LVMH was formed in 1987 through the merger of fashion house Louis Vuitton with champagne and cognac producer Moët Hennessy. Bernard Arnault became the group’s leading shareholder and has overseen its expansion through acquisitions and long-term brand management.

Its portfolio includes Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Fendi, Celine, Loewe, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Moët & Chandon, Hennessy, and Sephora. This breadth helps explain why LVMH’s total sales exceed those of more narrowly focused luxury groups such as Richemont or Kering. LVMH reported revenue of €80.8 billion for 2025.

Chanel is a major luxury brand, but it is not the name of a diversified group comparable to LVMH. Richemont is especially associated with jewelry and watches, while Kering owns brands including Gucci and Saint Laurent. Rankings can differ if they use market value rather than revenue.
