Which company is the parent of the luxury brands Porsche, Audi, and Lamborghini?

The story behind the answer

Volkswagen Group is the parent company of Porsche, Audi, and Lamborghini.

Volkswagen Group, headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany, is one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers. Its portfolio includes mass-market Volkswagen vehicles as well as premium and luxury marques such as Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and Lamborghini.

The group’s structure is more complex than a single car brand. Volkswagen AG is the publicly traded parent, while its brands operate with distinct identities, product lines, and management arrangements. Porsche AG became separately listed in 2022, but Volkswagen Group remained its controlling shareholder through its ownership structure.

Lamborghini is part of Audi, which is itself within Volkswagen Group. That layered relationship can cause confusion in market-cap comparisons. A brand’s popularity or value is not automatically the same as the market capitalization of the publicly traded parent company.
