Which company is the parent of Amazon.com and AWS?
Answer
Amazon
Answer
Amazon
Amazon is the parent of Amazon.com and Amazon Web Services, commonly called AWS.
Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994, and the company began as an online bookstore before expanding into many categories of retail. Amazon.com became a global online marketplace, while the company also developed logistics, digital media, devices, advertising, and subscription services such as Amazon Prime.
Amazon Web Services launched in the mid-2000s and provides cloud infrastructure and platform services. Customers can rent computing power, storage, databases, and other digital resources instead of building all of that infrastructure themselves. AWS became one of Amazon’s most important businesses and a major contributor to its financial performance.
Amazon is regularly ranked among the largest public companies by market capitalization. It is distinct from Alibaba Group, a Chinese technology company with major e-commerce platforms, and from Microsoft, which operates the competing Azure cloud platform.
