Saudi Aramco is the largest publicly traded oil producer and was valued at about US$1.9 trillion at its 2019 IPO.
Saudi Aramco listed shares on the Saudi Stock Exchange, or Tadawul, in December 2019. The initial public offering valued the company at approximately US$1.9 trillion, making it one of the largest IPOs ever conducted by deal value and market capitalization.
Saudi Aramco is Saudi Arabia’s national oil company and is officially known as Saudi Arabian Oil Company. It operates across exploration, production, refining, chemicals, and distribution. The company’s scale is closely connected to Saudi Arabia’s large petroleum reserves and its central role in the national economy.
The IPO sold only a portion of the company’s shares. Saudi Arabia retained the overwhelming majority, so the listing did not represent a sale of the entire business.
