Apple first closed a trading session with a market capitalization above $3 trillion in June 2023.
Apple finished trading above the $3 trillion level on June 30, 2023. This was different from its earlier intraday achievement in January 2022: a closing record requires the share price to remain above the necessary threshold at the end of the trading session.
The milestone followed a strong period for Apple shares, supported by the company’s large installed base, recurring services sales, and expectations surrounding new products. Apple announced its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset in June 2023, adding to investor interest in its future product categories.
Market capitalization is not the same as a company’s cash balance, annual sales, or accounting value. It represents what the stock market collectively values the equity at that moment. Because share prices move every trading day, rankings among Apple, Microsoft, Saudi Aramco, and other giants can change without any immediate change to their physical operations.
