Which company did Enzo Ferrari establish in 1939 before producing cars under the Ferrari name?

The story behind the answer

Enzo Ferrari established Auto Avio Costruzioni in 1939 before producing cars under the Ferrari name.

Enzo Ferrari had founded Scuderia Ferrari in 1929 as a racing organization and technical assistance business associated with Alfa Romeo. In 1939, he left Alfa Romeo and formed Auto Avio Costruzioni in Modena, initially making aircraft parts and other engineering products.

Because of contractual restrictions, Ferrari could not use his surname on racing cars for several years after leaving Alfa Romeo. The company built the Auto Avio Costruzioni 815, which raced in 1940. Ferrari-branded production began after World War II, with the 125 S appearing in 1947.

Scuderia Ferrari is therefore not the same answer as the 1939 company. It was Enzo's earlier racing organization, while Auto Avio Costruzioni was the corporate predecessor of Ferrari S.p.A.
