Which company did Anita Roddick found in 1976 in Brighton, England?

The story behind the answer

Anita Roddick founded The Body Shop in 1976 in Brighton, England.

Roddick opened the first shop on Brighton’s Kensington Gardens street with a small range of products. She used refillable containers and simple packaging partly because she lacked the money for elaborate retail presentation. The store’s early success helped her expand the business rapidly across the United Kingdom.

The Body Shop became known for campaigning on issues such as animal testing, human rights, and community trade, as well as for selling personal-care products. Roddick’s husband, Gordon Roddick, supported the business and joined it after returning from travel. The company was sold to L’Oréal in 2006. Roddick is frequently described as the sole founder, but Gordon was also an important early business partner.
