Which company developed the virtual-reality painting application Tilt Brush?
Answer
Skillman & Hackett
Answer
Skillman & Hackett
Skillman & Hackett developed the virtual-reality painting application Tilt Brush.
Tilt Brush was created by Skillman & Hackett and launched in 2016. The application lets users paint and draw in three-dimensional space, using motion controllers to place strokes around themselves rather than on a flat canvas. It supports effects such as ribbons, lights, and animated materials.
Google acquired Skillman & Hackett in 2015 and published Tilt Brush for several VR platforms. The software became known for demonstrations in which artists created immersive sculptures and scenes that could be viewed from inside. Its interface treated the surrounding space as the canvas, making scale and perspective central to the experience.
Google later made Tilt Brush open source in 2021. The original developer name is therefore different from Google, which published and supported the application for years. Tilt Brush is also unrelated to Owlchemy Labs, the studio behind Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator.
