Which company created the virtual-reality game Astro Bot Rescue Mission?
Answer
SIE Japan Studio
Answer
SIE Japan Studio
SIE Japan Studio created the virtual-reality game Astro Bot Rescue Mission.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission was developed by the Japan Studio team at Sony Interactive Entertainment and released for PlayStation VR in 2018. The platform game places players in a series of 3D environments while they guide Astro, a small robot, through missions to rescue his scattered robot crew.
The game uses the headset’s viewpoint as part of its design. Players can look around each level, lean toward objects, and help Astro by interacting with the world from outside the character’s body. This made the game a widely cited example of how VR could support traditional platforming ideas.
SIE Japan Studio was a Sony development group associated with several PlayStation projects. Astro Bot Rescue Mission should not be confused with Astro’s Playroom, a separate platform game bundled with PlayStation 5 consoles and not a PlayStation VR title.
