Nvidia created the GeForce graphics processor brand.
Nvidia introduced the GeForce brand in 1999 for graphics processing units designed initially for personal computers and gaming. The company later expanded into professional visualization, automotive computing, data centers, and artificial-intelligence hardware.
Its graphics processors became important for parallel computing because GPUs can perform many calculations simultaneously. That capability helped make Nvidia hardware central to modern machine-learning systems, although the company’s origins were in computer graphics.
Nvidia’s market capitalization rose dramatically as investors anticipated demand for AI accelerators and related software. GeForce remains a consumer gaming brand, while products such as the H100 serve data-center and AI workloads.
