Creatures is the company that co-owns the Pokémon trademark in Japan with Nintendo and Game Freak.
The three companies are the principal corporate owners behind the Pokémon franchise in Japan. Creatures was founded in 1995 and became involved in Pokémon development, business, and licensing. It also operates Pokémon CG Studio, which produces three-dimensional Pokémon models and related visual assets.
Game Freak developed the original Pokémon games, while Nintendo published and helped distribute them. The Pokémon Company, established in 1998 by Nintendo, Creatures, and Game Freak, manages much of the franchise’s licensing, marketing, and product coordination.
This structure is often simplified by saying Nintendo owns Pokémon outright, but the franchise’s Japanese rights and business history involve all three companies. Nintendo has a major ownership role internationally, while The Pokémon Company International handles many operations outside Asia.
