Nvidia’s share price surged on June 18, 2024, pushing its market capitalization above Apple’s and Microsoft’s during the trading session. The move reflected extraordinary investor enthusiasm for Nvidia’s graphics-processing units, which are widely used to train and run artificial-intelligence systems.
Nvidia began as a specialist graphics-chip company and became a central supplier of accelerated computing hardware. Its CUDA software platform also helped create a large ecosystem of developers and data-center customers, strengthening demand beyond gaming.
