LVMH became the world’s largest publicly traded luxury-goods group after acquiring Tiffany & Co. in 2021.
LVMH, officially LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, completed its acquisition of Tiffany & Co. in January 2021. The transaction expanded its jewelry and watch portfolio, which already included brands such as Bulgari, TAG Heuer, and Chaumet.
The group was created in 1987 through the merger of fashion house Louis Vuitton and champagne and cognac producer Moët Hennessy. It now operates across sectors including fashion and leather goods, wines and spirits, perfumes and cosmetics, watches and jewelry, and selective retailing.
LVMH is often confused with Kering, another major French luxury group whose brands include Gucci and Saint Laurent. The companies compete in luxury fashion, but they are separate businesses with different brand portfolios. LVMH’s broad collection of brands has also made it one of Europe’s most valuable listed companies.
