Nvidia became the first semiconductor maker valued at US$3 trillion in June 2024.
Nvidia passed the US$3 trillion market-capitalization mark on June 5, 2024, after a sharp rise in demand for its graphics processors and data-center systems. Those products became central to the infrastructure used to train and run generative artificial-intelligence models.
The milestone followed Nvidia's rapid ascent from a specialist graphics-chip designer to a major supplier of accelerated computing. Its CUDA software ecosystem helped developers use Nvidia hardware for parallel workloads, giving the company an important position beyond the chips themselves.
Nvidia also completed a ten-for-one stock split in June 2024. A split changes the number of shares and the price per share but does not, by itself, change a company's total market value. The company later moved above the US$3 trillion level alongside Apple and Microsoft, creating a close contest among the largest public companies.
