Saudi Aramco became the first publicly traded company to reach a $2 trillion market value after its 2019 IPO.
Saudi Aramco reached an approximately $2 trillion valuation on December 12, 2019, its second day of trading on the Saudi Stock Exchange. The company’s initial public offering was one of the most closely watched listings in financial history.
Saudi Aramco is the national oil company of Saudi Arabia and is among the world’s largest producers of crude oil. Its valuation reflects enormous hydrocarbon reserves, large-scale production, refining, chemicals, and energy infrastructure.
The milestone is distinct from Apple’s later $2 trillion record. Saudi Aramco briefly became the first listed company valued at about $2 trillion, while Apple later became the first U.S. company to reach that level and held the record through intraday trading in 2020.
