Apple became the first publicly traded business to exceed a $3 trillion market value at a closing price.
Apple finished a trading session above the $3 trillion threshold on June 30, 2023. Its share price closed at $193.97, producing a market capitalization slightly above $3 trillion based on the company’s outstanding shares.
Apple had first touched the level during intraday trading in January 2022, but it did not finish that session above the threshold. The distinction between touching a valuation during trading and closing above it is important because market capitalization changes continuously while markets are open.
Apple’s valuation was supported by the iPhone ecosystem, recurring services revenue, and investor expectations about long-term growth. Microsoft and Nvidia later traded at comparable or higher valuations, but Apple recorded the first $3 trillion closing market cap.
