The first season of the Netflix stand-up competition series The Standups had no host.
The Standups is not a conventional elimination contest with a presenter, judges, or a single winner. It is an anthology series in which each episode gives a different comedian a standalone performance slot. The first season premiered on Netflix in 2017 and featured six comedians, including Nate Bargatze, Deon Cole, Nikki Glaser, Fortune Feimster, Dan Soder, and Beth Stelling.
Because the program is marketed as a stand-up series rather than a traditional competition, the phrase “competition series” can create a misleading expectation. There is no host to name and no season champion.
This format differs from shows such as Last Comic Standing, which uses auditions, competition rounds, and a winner. The correct answer is therefore the format-based answer: no host.
