Which college baseball program did Aaron Judge play for?

The story behind the answer

Aaron Judge played college baseball for the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Judge attended California State University, Fresno, commonly called Fresno State, and played for the school’s baseball program. The Bulldogs compete in NCAA Division I baseball, and Judge developed there from a highly regarded athlete into a professional prospect. His college career helped establish him as one of the most physically imposing and talented hitters in the 2013 MLB draft class.

Before college, Judge starred in three sports at Linden High School. He received interest from major football programs, including Stanford, UCLA, Notre Dame, and Washington, but chose to focus on baseball at Fresno State. That decision placed him in a program with a strong baseball identity and gave scouts regular opportunities to evaluate him.

Judge’s performance at Fresno State led the Yankees to select him 32nd overall in the first round of the 2013 draft. He later became a Yankees star and captain, but Fresno State remains the defining college stop in his baseball development.

Arizona State, UCLA, and Stanford are plausible distractors because they are prominent Western athletic programs, but Judge did not play college baseball for them.
