Which cocktail is made with vodka, tomato juice, and Worcestershire sauce?

The story behind the answer

Which cocktail is made with vodka, tomato juice, and Worcestershire sauce? The answer is Bloody Mary.

A Bloody Mary combines vodka and tomato juice with savory and spicy flavorings. Worcestershire sauce is a classic addition, often joined by lemon juice, hot sauce, celery salt, black pepper, and horseradish. It is usually served over ice in a tall glass and commonly garnished with celery.

The drink’s origins are disputed. Bartender Fernand Petiot claimed he created an early version in Paris in 1921 and later refined it at New York’s St. Regis Hotel in the 1930s. George Jessel also received an invention claim, and early recipes were much simpler than today’s heavily seasoned versions.

A common mix-up is the Red Snapper, which generally substitutes gin for vodka. A Virgin Mary keeps the tomato-and-seasoning base but leaves out the alcohol. Despite its brunch reputation as a hangover cure, any relief is not medically established; alcohol can also worsen dehydration.
