Hull City won the first Saturday lunchtime match of the 2026–27 Premier League.
Hull hosted Manchester United at MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. The match kicked off at 12:30 BST and was the first Saturday fixture of the new campaign. Hull won 2–0, giving one of the promoted clubs an immediate victory over a historically successful opponent.
Hull City had returned to the Premier League after a nine-year absence. Their promotion made the fixture especially significant, because it marked the club’s first top-flight match since its previous Premier League spell ended.
Manchester United were one of the established clubs in the opening round, but they left Hull without scoring. The result was one of several notable opening-weekend victories by promoted teams. Ipswich Town also won, defeating Sunderland 2–1 at home.
