Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Aston Villa 4–0 on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match took place at Brighton’s home ground on Sunday 23 August 2026. It was one of two matches played at 14:00 that afternoon, alongside Manchester City’s meeting with AFC Bournemouth.
The victory was the biggest home win of the Premier League season at that point. Brighton scored four times without reply, giving manager Fabian Hürzeler’s side an emphatic start and leaving Aston Villa without a goal.
The result should not be confused with Brighton’s later 5–0 win over Coventry City. That larger away victory happened in September, whereas the 4–0 score against Aston Villa belonged to opening weekend in August.
