Brighton & Hove Albion beat Aston Villa 4–0 in the biggest home win of the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was played at the Amex Stadium on Sunday 23 August 2026. Brighton’s four-goal margin made it the largest home victory of the opening match round and placed the club near the top of the early table.
Aston Villa were one of the established Premier League sides in the fixture, while Brighton entered the match under Fabian Hürzeler. The result gave Brighton a perfect start and a goal difference of plus four.
The match was scheduled for Sunday afternoon because Brighton had been involved in UEFA Conference League qualifying during the preceding week. Brighton later recorded another major away victory, a 5–0 win at Coventry City, but that result came after the opening weekend.
