Hull City defeated Manchester United 2–0 during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was played at Hull’s MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. It marked Hull’s return to the Premier League after a nine-year absence and produced the club’s first top-flight victory over Manchester United.
Semi Ajayi opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and Nobel Mendy added a second goal before half-time. Mendy’s goal came on his Hull debut, making the result particularly memorable for the newly promoted side.
The victory was also notable because Manchester United had finished third in the previous season. For Hull, the result delivered three points against one of English football’s most famous clubs at the first opportunity.
