Chelsea completed the 2026–27 Premier League opening Matchweek by visiting Fulham on 24 August 2026.
The match was played at Craven Cottage on Monday evening and ended with Chelsea winning 3–2. It was the final fixture of the opening Matchweek, following Arsenal’s season-opening game on Friday and the remaining matches across Saturday and Sunday.
The fixture was also notable for the managers in the dugouts. Chelsea were led by Xabi Alonso, while Fulham were managed by Álvaro Arbeloa. Both former Spanish players began new Premier League managerial chapters in the match.
Chelsea’s away victory completed a high-scoring opening round. Arsenal beat Coventry City 3–0, Hull City defeated Manchester United 2–0, and Brighton beat Aston Villa 4–0, while Newcastle and Liverpool drew 2–2. The Chelsea–Fulham result ensured that the first Matchweek ended with 25 goals across 10 matches.
